Everything you need to know about auto scrubbers including types, sizes, specs, & more!

It is important to remove and reinstall properly.

In this article, we’ll review the steps you should follow to properly install and remove floor pads from your auto scrubber.

How to Change a Floor Pad or Floor Brush on an Auto Scrubber

The floor pad or brush on your auto scrubber should be changed once they become worn or damaged to reduce the risk of damaged floors or pad driver.

To change a floor pad or brush on an auto scrubber, follow these steps:

  1. Make Sure the Machine is Off
  2. Lift the Head of the Auto Scrubber
  3. Remove the Pad Driver and Pad Retainer
  4. Pull or Peel the Floor Pad from the Pad Driver
  5. Install Pad and Secure with the Retainer
  6. Re-Install the Pad Driver in the Machine Head

Step 1: Make Sure the Machine is Off

Before beginning to install the floor pad on your auto scrubber, make sure the machine is in the off position.

Powering off the auto scrubber will help avoid any accidental injury due to the machine starting while you and your cleaning team are installing the floor pad.

Step 2: Lift the Head of the Machine

In order to install the floor pad, you will need easy access to the floor pad and pad driver.

To gain access, you can simply raise the head of the machine. Some machines will have a button on the control panel to automatically raise the scrub head.

Step 3: Remove the Pad Driver and Pad Retainer

You will need to remove the pad driver in order to attach the brush or pad.

Depending on the machine, you will have to release a lever or manually remove the pad driver. To take the pad off of the pad driver, you will need to remove the pad retainer from the pad.

Note: On an Orbital floor scrubber, the pad driver cannot be removed. The floor pad should be peeled directly from the machine to remove it.

Then, pull or peel the floor pad from the grips that hold the pad in place on the machine.

Step 5: Install Pad and Secure with Pad Retainer

Now that the pad driver and pad are removed, center the floor pad on the pad driver.56649351_Pad_Holder_20_inch_NP92_Clutch_Bottom_View

To install a floor pad on an orbital floor scrubber simply press the pad onto the pad driver.

ProTip: If the pad is not centered on the pad driver, it will cause the machine to wobble. When the machine produces increased wobbling, the machine will not be able to clean your floors as efficiently, requiring more time and labor from your cleaning staff.

Most auto scrubbers have grips on the pad driver that will hold the pad in place.

Once centered, use the pad retainer to keep the floor pad in place.

Step 6: Re-Install the Pad Driver in the Machine Head

Finally, you will need to reattach the pad driver to the scrub head on the auto scrubber.

Rotate the pad driver until it turns back into place.
